Shopping for a Cause
On March 18th Forever 21 announced that every dollar spent on their website would go directly to relief efforts in Japan through the Red Cross. It was a simple, easy way for people to do good - and it worked! In that single day Forever 21 patrons donated over two million dollars through their purchases! Talk about retail therapy, if that doesn't make you feel good I don't know what will!
I thought I'd share a bit about the purchases I made on the 18th...
First I picked out the Wide Brim Hat in black; this color is no longer available but you can still get it in natural or camel. I had so wanted a big, floppy hat and I thought this was the perfect time to try it. I'm not really sure how well I can rock a wide hat, but hopefully I'll gain the confidence to show you all in an outfit post someday!
I also got this adorable Clutch Make-up Bag. I've been on the hunt for a new cosmetic bag for the longest time; my previous one had easily become the ultimate essential in my handbag, but it's suffered a lot of wear and tear of the last few years so it was time for a replacement. I had looked at Ulta, Target and a few other places but couldn't find one quite as perfect as my old one (which was actually part of a luggage set I got at an outlet). When I saw this one on Forever 21 I thought I may have gotten lucky and, again, it was the perfect time to try it.
It unsnaps and unfolds to reveal two zipper compartments, be still my heart. I was able to fit all of my essentials into it while also organizing them a bit more. For the record, the zipper compartments have a lot of give at the opening, something I had worried about. Have you ever had a make-up bag that just barely unzips so you have to dump everything out to find what you need? My previous bag unzipped halfway down the sides which made for very easy access. This one only unzips across the top but they made it generously wide so you can get to everything. And it still fits inside my handbag!
Did you make any purchases in donation to the relief efforts in Japan either on Forever 21 or any of the other retailers that held similar events? I'd love to hear about it! And if you haven't entered our giveaway for your chance to win a dress from Shabby Apple you still have time!
