Friday Fame: Emily Blunt

"I like fashion, I’m very partial to Marc Jacobs and Prada, but I don’t want clothes to wear me. Ordinarily, I dress like a teenage boy in layered T-shirts and Converse gear. Emily, my fashion-obsessed character in The Devil Wears Prada, was an alien from Planet Fashion."

Emily Blunt has been quite the successful actress ever since she discovered her love for the art in school during a special production. She was asked to play a character with a northern accent and it was then that she was able to overcome her stammer she had suffered with for eight years. Sometime after she attended the Edinburgh Film Festival where she was signed by an agent and quickly signed on for projects for BBC. And then came the movies! 2006 is known as her break-out year for her role in The Devil Wears Prada and she gained even more roles since then including Charlie Wilson’s War, The Great Buck Howard, The Wolf Man and of course The Young Victoria.

"To play the Queen of England and for it to be a subtle drama was great for me because I have played a lot of comedy roles since ‘Prada. That seemed to be what was coming my way because I like doing funny stuff. But I think I can mix it up."

She has also recently done a voice-over in Gnomeo & Juliet and as of today you can see her in The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon (which by the way, looks like an exciting thriller!).

Although I've only seen Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada and The Young Victoria I can easily say she is one of my favorite actresses. It sounds silly but it's true! With two very different performances I recognized and appreciated her talent and passion as an actor instantly. Oh, and might I mention her simple yet lovely fashion sense? I love how she always seems to have the perfect make-up and hair-do to compliment what she's wearing...

The Adjustment Bureau NY Premiere
Here she is wearing a nude long-sleeved dress by Ellie Saab from the Spring 2011 Couture Collection. I love the way the sleeves cling to her arms and shoulders as if the dress were a part of her. It's such a delicate look and the color couldn't be more perfect.

2010 Golden Globes
Emily and her husband John Krasinski make such a dashing couple! She is wearing a beautiful blush pink gown by Dolce & Gabanna and accessories by Loraine Schwartz. The creamy elegance makes me die.

62nd Primetime Emmy Awards
She truly looks like a movie star in this gown from the Christian Dior Resort 2010 Collection.
I love the way her hair is pinned up. So classy!

2010 Hollywood Style Awards
Here she is wearing a black dress by British based designer Roksanda Ilincic from the 2009 Collection. It's hard to see in the picture but this dress has structured cap sleeves and shiny polka dot details with ribbon bows around the neckline. It's a lot of black, but she pulls it off.

The American Insitute for Sluttering 4th Annual Benefit Gala
I have no idea what she's wearing here (I spent way too much time searching for the details) but I think she looks confident and absolutely fantastic. The metallic gold print is so fun and the ankle straps give the dress an edgier feel.

Are you a fan of Emily? Which movies have you seen her in?

Thanks to Emily Blunt Fans for all the information and photos you see in this post.
